Power Platform Learning Resources - Your Complete Training Guide 📚

This page collects the Power Platform training and tutorials I’d actually point a colleague to: official Microsoft learning paths and certifications, active communities, and where to go for structured, live training instead of self-study. It’s curated by Marcel Lehmann, Microsoft MVP for Business Applications, based on what’s held up across 150+ real Power Apps and Power Automate projects.

Learning paths by experience level

If you’re new to the platform, start with Microsoft’s own fundamentals training below rather than jumping into advanced patterns, the terminology and core concepts (environments, connectors, Dataverse) take an hour or two to click into place and everything after builds on them.

Once the basics are solid, most people move into building real canvas or model-driven apps and sophisticated Power Automate workflows, and Copilot Studio chatbot/agent design if AI is part of the roadmap. Expert-level work is less about new syntax and more about architecture: solution governance at scale, performance tuning, and building custom connectors for systems Microsoft doesn’t cover out of the box.

Microsoft Learn: Power Platform

Microsoft is moving several Power Platform certifications to new AB exams in 2026. The list below was checked against Microsoft Learn on 17 October 2026.

Platform-specific documentation

Structured live training and coaching

Microsoft Learn is free and thorough, but it’s self-paced, and most teams get stuck on the same handful of real-world questions self-study doesn’t answer well. Two options if you want structured, live training instead:

  • Power Platform Academy: live courses and workshops with certification prep (PL-900), taught by Marcel Lehmann.
  • KMUpower: Power Platform consulting, custom workshops and enterprise implementation support for SMEs. Marcel has personally delivered 150+ projects since 2018, including his work through KMUpower.

Typical engagements: custom workshop design for a specific team, hands-on coaching during an implementation, performance and architecture review of an existing solution, or ongoing skill development for a maker team going from “built one app” to “owns the platform.”

Community resources and support

Local Power Platform User Groups and the monthly MVP community calls are worth joining too, less for the content itself and more for knowing who to ask when something breaks in a way the docs don’t cover.

Keeping skills current

Once the fundamentals are solid, the fastest way to keep improving is building real projects, not more tutorials: a personal project you actually use, a hackathon, or contributing back to a community sample. Beyond that, following release notes and attending Microsoft Ignite, Build or a regional Power Platform Conference keeps you ahead of platform changes before they hit your production apps.
