When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect:

Email Address: Required for sending you our weekly Power Platform tips and updates
Name (optional): To personalize our communications with you
Subscription Date: To track when you joined our community

Automatically Collected Information

We count page views with GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service. GoatCounter does not set cookies, does not store your IP address or the full User-Agent header of your browser, and does not track you across websites.

For each page view, GoatCounter receives the page address, the referring page, the User-Agent header, the screen width, the browser language and your IP address (needed for any network connection). It only stores aggregate counts per day or hour:

Page path and referring website or search engine
Browser and operating system (name and version only, e.g. “Firefox 139”, “Windows 11”)
Country (derived from the IP address, which is then discarded)
Browser language and screen width

To avoid counting a reload as a new visit, a combination of site, IP address and User-Agent is kept in memory only, for at most 8 hours, and is never written to disk. The stored counts cannot be linked to each other or to an individual person.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Power Platform Tools (email gate)

The free tools under /tools/ ask once for your email address before you can use them.

What is sent: your email address (trimmed and lower-cased) together with the fixed values site: powerplatformtip and source: tool. As with any web request, the receiving server also sees your IP address and browser information.
Recipient: a Microsoft Power Automate flow (Microsoft acts as our processor), sent directly from your browser via HTTPS. The flow adds your address to the PowerPlatformTip newsletter list in Brevo (see Brevo below).
Purpose: access to the tools and your subscription to the PowerPlatformTip newsletter, as stated next to the form. The newsletter is the consideration for the free use of the tools.
Stored in your browser: one technically necessary cookie pp_tools_auth with the value valid (it does not contain your email address), valid for 30 days, so you do not have to enter your email again. The tools also remember your language choice (preferredLanguage, German or English) in local storage.
Your inputs: formulas, JSON, files and images you work with are processed locally in your browser. Exceptions: the Request Builder sends the request you configure to the address you enter, and the Theme Generator loads an image from an address you enter.
Usage counting: GoatCounter (see below) also counts which tool is opened, as a page path such as /tools/#translator. Your email address is never sent to GoatCounter.
Unsubscribe: use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email, or write to marcel.lehmann@kmupower.com. Deleting the cookie removes the stored access on your device.

Cookies

This website does not use cookies or local storage for analytics or tracking. That is why there is no cookie banner. The only cookie is set by the Power Platform Tools once you have entered your email address: pp_tools_auth, which is technically necessary (see Power Platform Tools). The tools also remember your language choice in local storage. Apart from that and technical functions of the site itself (for example remembering the light/dark mode you picked), nothing is stored in your browser.

The newsletter signup form is provided by Brevo (see “Third-Party Services” below) and is loaded from Brevo’s servers.

Voluntary: Newsletter subscription is completely voluntary
Double Opt-In: You may need to confirm your subscription via email
Frequency: We send newsletters weekly
Content: Power Platform tips, tutorials, best practices, and occasional service updates

GoatCounter (anonymous visitor counting)

Provider: GoatCounter.com, operated by Martin Tournoij (Ireland); data is stored on servers of Hetzner Online GmbH in Finland and Germany
Purpose: count anonymous page views so we know which tips are read
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); no personal data is stored
No cookies, no IP storage, no tracking across websites, and no data is shared with third parties
The script (count.js) is served from this website itself; only the count request goes to GoatCounter
GoatCounter’s Privacy Policy and GDPR notes apply
You can block requests to goatcounter.com with any content blocker; the site works exactly the same

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:
