Color Converter (Hex to ColorValue / RGBA)

Convert hex colors and CSS names into Power Fx ColorValue(), RGBA() and Color.<Name>, right in your browser.

The color converter knows every CSS color name that Power Fx knows (for example OliveDrab or AliceBlue), keeps the alpha value of an 8-digit hex unchanged and picks colors from an image with the eyedropper. You can also check the contrast against a second color according to WCAG.

Open Color Converter

Free. You enter your email address once, then all tools are unlocked. Your data is processed locally in your browser.

How it works

  1. Enter a hex value or CSS name (e.g. #ffd700 or gold) or pick the color from an image.
  2. Adjust the RGBA channels or the alpha value if needed.
  3. Copy ColorValue(), RGBA() or Color.<Name> and paste it into Power Apps.

Example: hex to Power Fx

// Input
#ffd700   (or: gold)

// Output (Power Fx)
ColorValue("#ffd700")
RGBA(255, 215, 0, 1)
Color.Gold

// With transparency
#ff7f5080  →  ColorValue("#ff7f5080")
           →  RGBA(255, 127, 80, 0.502)

Frequently asked questions

Is the color converter free?

Yes.

Is my data uploaded?

No, the conversion and the eyedropper run locally in your browser.

What is the difference between ColorValue() and RGBA()?

ColorValue() takes CSS color names and hex strings. RGBA() expects red, green and blue from 0 to 255 and alpha as a decimal from 0 to 1.

Which color names does the tool know?

The full CSS list that Power Fx uses for ColorValue() and the Color enumeration, about 140 names.

Is the alpha value kept exactly?

Yes. An 8-digit hex value goes into ColorValue() unchanged, RGBA() shows alpha rounded to three digits.

How do I check contrast?

Enter a second color under "Check contrast". The tool shows the ratio and whether AA (4.5:1) and AAA (7:1) are met.
