CSV to JSON and back
Convert CSV to JSON and JSON to CSV, locally in your browser with no upload.
The tool detects the delimiter from the header row (comma, semicolon or tab), understands quoted fields with line breaks and makes duplicate column names unique. In the other direction it builds the columns from all objects, writes nested values as JSON and adds a UTF-8 BOM so Excel shows special characters correctly.
Open CSV to JSONFree. You enter your email address once, then all tools are unlocked. Your data is processed locally in your browser.
How it works
- Paste or upload the CSV, the tool detects the delimiter.
- Optionally let it detect numbers and true/false.
- Copy or download the JSON. For the other direction, pick the JSON to CSV tab.
Example: Excel CSV (semicolon) to JSON
// Input (CSV with semicolon)
Name;City;Note
Contoso;Zurich;"Line 1
Line 2"
Fabrikam;Bern;ok
// Output (JSON)
[
{ "Name": "Contoso", "City": "Zurich", "Note": "Line 1\nLine 2" },
{ "Name": "Fabrikam", "City": "Bern", "Note": "ok" }
]Frequently asked questions
Is the tool free?
Yes.
Is my data uploaded?
No, the conversion happens locally in your browser.
Which delimiter is expected?
Comma, semicolon or tab. The tool detects it from the header row, or you pick it yourself.
Are numbers recognized as numbers?
By default every value stays text. With "Detect numbers and true/false", 30 and true become number and boolean, values with a leading zero such as 08320 stay text.
Does Excel open the CSV correctly?
Yes. The download has a UTF-8 BOM. Excel in many European locales expects a semicolon, which you can pick as delimiter.
What do I use this for in Power Automate?
To turn CSV data into JSON and process it further with Parse JSON or Select.
