Image to Base64 Converter
Convert images (PNG, JPG, SVG, WebP) to Base64 or a data URL, right in your browser.
With the data URL you embed graphics directly, for example in the Image property of an image control in Power Apps or in an HTML email body (tip 194). Before that you can resize the image and compress it as JPEG or WebP. The output type always matches the content: a compressed SVG is output as PNG.
Free. You enter your email address once, then all tools are unlocked. Your data is processed locally in your browser.
How it works
- Pick an image or drag it onto the drop area.
- Optionally compress: choose format, quality and maximum size.
- Copy the data URL or plain Base64 and embed it.
Example: data URL for Power Apps
// Output (shortened)
data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAA...
// Power Fx (Image property)
"data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAA..."Frequently asked questions
Is the tool free?
Yes.
Are my images uploaded?
No, the conversion runs entirely in your browser, your image never leaves your device.
What do I use Base64 for in Power Apps?
To embed an image without an external file: the data URL goes into the Image property of the image control.
Why does the quality slider not affect PNG?
PNG is lossless, so there is no quality setting. For smaller files pick JPEG or WebP as output format.
Why compress?
Base64 makes data about a third larger. A smaller image keeps your app and email lean.
What happens with SVG?
Without compression it stays an SVG. With compression it is rendered as PNG and the data URL MIME type matches.
