Base64 to Text Converter

Encode text to Base64 and decode it back, UTF-8 safe, including umlauts and emoji.

Handy for checking content from Power Automate (base64() and base64ToString()), HTTP actions or email attachments. The tool strips a data URL prefix such as data:image/png;base64, for you, and for binary files (PDF, JPEG, ZIP) it tells you there is no plain text behind it.

Open Base64 to Text

Free. You enter your email address once, then all tools are unlocked. Your data is processed locally in your browser.

How it works

  1. Pick a direction: text to Base64 or Base64 to text.
  2. Paste the content, a data URL prefix is fine.
  3. Copy the result.

Example: text and Base64

// Text → Base64
Hello      →  SGVsbG8=
Grüsse     →  R3LDvHNzZQ==

// Base64 → Text
SGk=       →  Hi
data:text/plain;base64,SGk=  →  Hi (prefix removed)

Frequently asked questions

Is the Base64 tool free?

Yes.

Is my data uploaded?

No, encoding happens locally in your browser.

Are umlauts and emoji encoded correctly?

Yes. Encoding is UTF-8 safe and gives the same result as base64() in Power Automate.

What happens with a data URL?

The data:...;base64, prefix is removed automatically and only the Base64 part is decoded.

Why do I only see odd characters?

Then the content is a binary file, for example a PDF or image from Get file content. The tool shows a note and, where possible, the file type.

Is Base64 encryption?

No, Base64 is only an encoding and offers no protection at all.
